What did you want to be when you grew up?

A few years ago some friends of mine had a Halloween Party. The theme was "What I wanted to be when I grew up." I've heard that what you wanted to be when you grew up says something about some of your deepest held passions. I'm not sure why, if that is the case, my roommate at the time dressed as a horse but I dressed as an artist. I realize that I have some desire to be connected with art that just doesn't seem to go away. During my Love of Learning phase I spent hours and days and weeks, really, looking through art magazines, dating artists (okay, that makes it years) and touring the country looking at art. Since then, I have taken it into my Scholar and Depth phases and I am making plans for some major mission-related actions having to do with art.

What did you want to be when you grew up (list several things, if you'd like)?

Why do you think you wanted to be that?

Have you become what you wanted to be?

What could you study and do now that would help you to become what you most want to be (whether it has changed, or is still the same)? If you have become that dream, how did you do it, and what do you dream of next?

By the way, is the title of this post grammatically correct? I forgot to diagram it :). Also, could someone please add pictures of Erin as a horse? I couldn't find any.

I remember that somewhere my mom wrote down that I wanted to be a chef that made Rosebuds (A Rosebud is a cross between a glazed donut and a cinnamon roll).

I am not a professional chef and I don't think I ever will be, but I think that my current interests may take me into a nutrition-related field. I find the connections between food, health, earth, and religion, to be completely fascinating. You will note that all my posts on this blog mention food. That's not intentional. Just kinda happened.

There was an episode of Oprah that aired in the 90's about this very topic. Finding the thing that you loved as a child and following through.

Good luck! I hope you all enjoy pondering what you wanted to be when you grew up.

Kate - I love this, "I find the connections between food, health, earth, and religion, to be completely fascinating." That is SUCH a worthy pursuit!! We are deeply in need of people to do that kind of work!
